NEW SESSION of personal ESSAY WORKSHOP at paragraphNY Brooklyn*

SIX WEEKS, starting Monday, April 29, 2018
7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Paragraph: Workspace for Writers: 35 West 14th Street, New York, NY, 10011

In this workshop, we’ll work on both the art of writing powerful personal essays and the craft of placing them. The class is writing-intensive, with exercises to generate ideas; extensive critiques to polish essays that spring from them; and practical tools to get them published. Participants should come prepared to write, read and share.

We will be covering everything from the literary to the logistical, including titles, potential outlets, query letters, etiquette, and how to talk to your parents the day after you’ve published some ultra-revealing essay about them in a national newspaper. Past participants have published essays in major outlets, including The New York Times.

The class will meet for five weeks on Monday evenings from 7 to 9 pm, starting March 19th. No previous publishing experience is required. Tuition is $195, or $145 for the first four people to sign up!
